ATLANTA MIN VACATION WAS FANTASTIC

WOW! We just got home from our mini vacation to Atlanta. We had a BLAST!!  I have to say, we had the perfect vacation in Atlanta.

 

THE WINGATE INNS HOTEL!!

The hotel, Wingate Inns, was perfect. It was a three room suite, all separated by ACTUAL doors!! What a shock. Usually when we go to a "suites" hotel. we get stuck with a room that may or may not have a 3 foot tall wall separating the bed from the couch.  The Wingate Inn and Suites hotel is a brand new chain that we found to be absolutely perfect! I recommend them completely.  

 

THE AQUARIUM!!!  

Well. on with the journey.... We left home on Tuesday morning , jun 20th and started our day at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. This is the world largest aquarium. We had a blast there! The place was done in a really great way. no skimping. There were several different displays that included Beluga Whales, huge Whale Sharks and a walkway under the aquarium! It was like diving in the ocean.

 

Unfortunately, we forgot to bring the camera in with us so we didn't get any pictures! SORRY ALL!!!

 

Helena loved it there, she got to be very interactive with different types of marine animals. she touched starfish, shrimp, sting rays and more. We Had a wonderful time there. It was right in downtown Atlanta and was right next to Centennial Park where they had the 94 Olympics. Unfortunately, its also where the bombs went of during the Olympics as well. 

After the Aquarium, we hopped on I75 and had a quick 15 minute ride to the Wingate Inns hotel in Buckhead section where the rich people are! What a great day that was! (its also very cose to where MSC Has distribution center in Mableton,Ga.

 

THE ZOO THE PANDAS!!

 

We got up bright and early the next day and headed to the Atlanta Zoo where they have the Pandas, Yun Yun and Ling Ling. They were absolutely beautiful!! I have never been so close to a real Panda, it was very cool. Helena got to talk to the trainer that works with them and she told us a lot of great info that we didnt know. The animals were really well kept and the zoo has obviously done a lot to make the habitats realistic. The animal were all in great shape. We loved it. I have always loved zoos and this was definitely in my top 3 zoos to visit!

We did remember the cameras this time so see the great pics we got.

 

WAY TOO HOT!!!!

After that it was just too hot to go anywhere so we had an early dinner and then swam in the pool. We have not had any rain here in a very long time!! Alabama and Georgia both are on water restrictions. Its been close to 100 every day. Georgia is on severe water restriction as is Alabama now. We havent even watered our grass in months. I havent cut my lawn in about 8 weeks so its nice and long and is staying greener then my neighbors is.

I only hope we get some rain, NOT a hurricane though!

 

We also went to Coca Cola World and did the CNN tour. We hada great time at all the places we went. Atlanta really is a beautiful city.
